Frequently asked questions
What is servant leadership?
A leadership philosophy where the leader's primary goal is to serve others. It was articulated by Robert Greenleaf in 1970 and later operationalized by van Dierendonck into eight measurable behaviors.
How is this different from transformational leadership?
Transformational leadership focuses on inspiring followers toward a shared vision. Servant leadership focuses on the growth and well-being of the followers themselves. They overlap in some behaviors but differ in priority.
