Twenty-four statements about how you operate in close relationships: what a slow reply does to your evening, what it costs to let someone see you struggle, how safe it feels to depend on another person. Attachment research describes two dimensions, not boxes: attachment anxiety (how much you worry about being left, rejected, or mattering less to others than they matter to you) and attachment avoidance (how uncomfortable closeness, dependence, and opening up feel). This assessment reads your position on both, separately, because the two scores answer different questions and mix in different ways. It is a NOESIS adaptation built on the adult attachment model measured by the ECR-R (Fraley, Waller and Brennan, 2000): the items are independently written and not independently validated, so treat the result as structured self-reflection rather than a validated diagnosis.

Two dimensions, not four boxes: how fast distance feels like danger, and what closeness costs you.

発見できること
  • Put separate numbers on the two habits that shape your close relationships: the alarm that fires at signs of distance, and the brake that engages when someone comes close. See which specific behaviors drive each score, and take away a vocabulary for conversations that usually run on accusation: 'you are clingy' and 'you are cold' become two positions on a map.

科学的根拠

このツールを信頼できる理由。

Based on the two-dimension model of adult attachment measured by the ECR-R (Fraley, Waller and Brennan, 2000), this assessment uses 24 independently developed items — 12 per dimension, 4 reverse-keyed in each — on a 7-point agreement scale, scored as raw 1 to 7 means with NOESIS-labeled bands and no total score. Reverse-keyed items are turned in the scoring, never by relabeling the answer options. The items were written by NOESIS to represent the published construct and have not been independently validated; the original scale's psychometrics and any published norms do not apply to them. The two scores are always reported separately: the reference literature argues against sorting people into attachment types, so the familiar quadrant names appear at most as a reading aid for the combination.

収束的妥当性
収束的妥当性Applies to the reference instrument, not to these items: the ECR-R scales were built by IRT analysis (graded response model, N = 1,085) from the Brennan, Clark and Shaver item pool, and Fraley reports internal consistency around .90 or higher for both scales. The NOESIS items have not been independently validated.
弁別的妥当性In the reference model the two dimensions are distinct and only moderately related (r = .40 in Fraley's web sample), and taxometric work (Fraley & Waller, 1998) supports dimensions over attachment types; this is why the test reports two positions, not a category.

このテストの背景にある理論。

Adult Attachment Dimensions

Framework describing how adults experience closeness and dependence in intimate relationships, developed from Bowlby's and Ainsworth's attachment theory and extended to adult romantic bonds by Hazan and Shaver (1987). Self-report research converged on two continuous dimensions rather than categories: attachment anxiety (fear of abandonment and rejection, vigilance about the availability of close others) and attachment avoidance (discomfort with closeness, dependence and self-disclosure). Brennan, Clark and Shaver (1998) established the two-factor structure over a large item pool, and Fraley, Waller and Brennan (2000) refined the measurement by item response theory. Taxometric analyses in the same tradition (Fraley & Waller, 1998) support dimensions over attachment types, so positions on the two dimensions are read separately and never converted into a classification.

ターゲット

Adults who want an honest read on how they attach: people who keep landing in the same relationship pattern, couples who fight the same fight in different costumes, and single people who want to see the pattern before the next relationship starts.

レポートが答える質問。

  • How fast does distance turn into threat for you?

Read the score as the sensitivity of an alarm, not the size of your love. High means signs of distance (a late reply, a flat tone, a canceled plan) get flagged as danger early and often, and the impulse is to fix the feeling now: check, ask, ask again. Low means the same signals mostly pass without setting anything off. Neither end is virtue; an alarm that never rings misses real fires, and one that rings hourly exhausts the household.

  • What does closeness cost you?

Read the score as the price of being seen. High means intimacy is spent carefully: feelings stay summarized, help is asked for late or not at all, and the deepest rooms of your inner life stay locked, even to people who have been around for years. Low means openness and depending come cheap. The score does not measure how much you care about people; it measures how expensive it feels to let them all the way in.

The one who rereads the last message

Sent at 21:14, seen at 21:20, no reply by 23:00. The evening reorganizes itself around what that silence might mean. A high anxiety score does not say the worry is wrong; it says the alarm is calibrated to go off early, and shows what it is scanning for.

The partner who needs a day alone after a great weekend

Nothing went wrong; the closeness itself was the exertion. A high avoidance score can name that pattern without the usual courtroom framing: not cold, not uncommitted, but someone for whom being fully seen is expensive, and who pays for it afterwards in solitude.

A couple stuck in pursue and withdraw

One asks for more, the other asks for room, and both are sure the other one started it. Two profiles side by side turn the fight about tone into a diagram of the loop: what each person's move costs the other, and where the cycle can actually be interrupted.

よくある質問

よくある質問

Does this tell me my attachment type?

No, on purpose. The researchers behind the reference model found that attachment differences are a matter of degree, not category: people vary continuously on anxiety and on avoidance, and cutting the scores into types throws information away. Your report gives you a position on each dimension. The familiar labels (secure, preoccupied, dismissing, fearful) appear only as a reading aid for the combination, never as a verdict on what you are.

I am single right now. Can I still take it?

Yes. The statements ask about how you operate in intimate and close relationships in general: partners past and present, and the few people who really know you. You do not need a current partner to have an attachment pattern; it shows in how you remember old relationships, how you handle new closeness, and who you call when something breaks. Taking it between relationships is actually a good moment, because the pattern is easier to see without a specific person attached to every answer.

What is a NOESIS adaptation?

The two dimensions this test measures come from published attachment research, specifically the model behind the ECR-R of Fraley, Waller and Brennan (2000). The 24 statements you answer are NOESIS's own wording: no item text is taken from the original questionnaire, and the original's published statistics (reliability, norms) do not apply to these items. If you need a validated instrument for research, use the original under its own terms; if you want a structured, honest way to look at your own pattern, this is built for that.

My report mentions quadrants like secure or fearful. Is that a diagnosis?

No. The quadrant is a didactic picture of where your two scores land together, and its names are shorthand, not clinical categories. Attachment researchers, including the ECR-R's first author, argue explicitly against classifying people from these scores, and this test follows that position. Nothing in your report is a diagnosis of you or your relationship; if relationship distress is causing real suffering, a couples or individual therapist reads that far better than any questionnaire.

Can my attachment pattern change?

The research tradition treats attachment as stable enough to be worth measuring and plastic enough to be worth working on. Long relationships with reliable people, therapy, and sometimes just naming the pattern move the dial, slowly. What changes fastest is not the reflex but what you do two seconds after it fires: the anxious impulse to demand proof and the avoidant impulse to go quiet both become choices once you can see them coming.

Should my partner and I take it together?

It is one of the best uses of the test. Much couple friction around closeness is two normal patterns colliding: one person reads distance as danger and moves closer, the other reads pursuit as pressure and steps back, and each step confirms the other's fear. Two separate results put that loop on the table in neutral language. Each of you answers alone, then you compare: not to decide who is the problem, but to see which loop your two positions predict.
