Perceived Social Support
Also known as: MSPSS framework · Social support theory
Social support is the perception that one is cared for, has assistance available, and is part of a supportive social network. Perceived support — what a person believes is available — matters more for health outcomes than received support. The multidimensional model distinguishes three sources: family, friends, and significant other.
