Biobehavioral Temperament Theory

Temperament as heritable, early-appearing individual differences in emotionality, activity, and sociability, with emotionality further differentiated into distress, fear, and anger components. Buss and Plomin's model treats these dimensions as biologically grounded traits that appear in infancy and persist into adulthood, distinguishing temperament from learned personality by its early onset and heritability.
