The Chinese zodiac gives everybody an animal based on birth year. This does the opposite: it asks how you behave and tells you which of the twelve you actually resemble. The animals work well as temperaments because they are unusually concrete. The Ox carries things. The Rat is positioned before anybody announced there was a position. The Rabbit sees trouble coming and is elsewhere. These are recognisable in a way that abstract trait words are not. Each question puts four animals against each other in an ordinary situation, and every animal is offered in exactly ten of the thirty questions, so none can win by being asked about more often. Why keep more than one way out?
Because a single guarantee is a single point of failure, and you have probably watched one fail. The cost is that people who want commitment read the open options as reluctance, and they are not entirely wrong.
When does carrying become a trap?
When nobody renegotiated it and you did not either. The strength is that you do not put things down; the same fact means a load assigned five years ago is still yours unless somebody actively removes it, and nobody will.

Is astrology real?
