Ten statements about how your money situation actually feels: could you absorb a large surprise expense, does giving a gift strain the month, do your finances control your life. This is the CFPB Financial Well-Being Scale, developed by the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from consumer research and IRT calibration on more than 15,000 respondents. It does not measure income or financial knowledge — people with the same salary score very differently — but the felt state those things are supposed to buy: security now, security later, and freedom of choice. Your answers are scored exactly as the Bureau published: summed, then converted through the official age-banded table to a 0-100 score you can place against the measured U.S. adult distribution (average 54).
Not your income — how your money actually feels. Ten questions from the U.S. consumer-protection agency, scored 0-100 against a national benchmark.
- Put a rigorous number on your subjective financial well-being — separate from income, assets, or financial literacy — see where it sits against the measured U.S. adult distribution, and get a baseline to re-measure after real changes: a new job, a paid-off debt, a savings habit.

ทำไมถึงไว้วางใจเครื่องมือวัดนี้
The CFPB Financial Well-Being Scale (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, 2015) measures subjective financial well-being: 10 items in two blocks — six on how well statements describe you, four on how often they apply — on 5-point scales with six reverse-keyed items. Scoring follows the official two-step procedure exactly: response values 0-4 are summed (0-40) and converted to the 0-100 score through the Bureau's published IRT-derived table, which differs by age group (18-61 / 62+) — the reason this test requires your date of birth. Marginal reliability is 0.89-0.90 (Technical Report, 2017); a Brazilian validation reproduced the single-factor structure (alpha 0.89). Results are positioned against the published U.S. adult distribution (mean 54, N = 6,394), explicitly labeled as a U.S. benchmark. English and Spanish items are the official versions verbatim; Portuguese, French, German, and Italian are NOESIS's own translations.

ทฤษฎีเบื้องหลังแบบทดสอบนี้
Financial Well-Being
The CFPB's consumer-driven definition of financial well-being: a state of being wherein a person can fully meet current and ongoing financial obligations, can feel secure in their financial future, and is able to make choices that allow enjoyment of life. Derived from qualitative research with U.S. consumers rather than from expert-defined financial literacy: well-being is subjective and behavioral, spanning present security, future security, and financial freedom of choice.

คำถามที่รายงานตอบ
Does your money give you security and choices — or take them?
Read the score as the felt distance between your life and the edge. High means surprises are absorbable, the future feels provisioned, and money widens your options. Low means the margin is thin enough that money decides things for you — what you can celebrate, what you can risk, what you can leave. It moves slower than a bank balance: one windfall rarely lifts it, because it measures the system you live in, not this month's luck.
ใครได้ประโยชน์มากที่สุด
Someone earning well and feeling broke
The salary looks fine on paper and the anxiety says otherwise. A score that measures felt security instead of income can name that gap — and the item-level pattern usually shows exactly where the money stops feeling like yours.
Someone six months into fixing their finances
The spreadsheet exists, the debt is shrinking, and it still does not feel different. A validated baseline now, repeated after the next milestone, answers the question progress bars cannot: is the well-being actually following the numbers?
A couple who argue about money in circles
Same household, same bank account, wildly different feelings about it. Two independent scores turn 'you worry too much' versus 'you spend too freely' into something discussable: two positions on the same published ruler.
คำถามที่พบบ่อย
Why do you need my date of birth for this test?
Because the official scoring requires it. The CFPB calibrated the scale with item response theory and found the same answers carry slightly different weight for adults 18-61 and adults 62 and older — so the Bureau publishes separate conversion tables by age group, and the scoring worksheet itself asks for your age band. We use your date of birth once, to pick the official table; without it your 0-100 score could not be computed as published.
Is this about how much money I have?
No — and that is the point of the instrument. The CFPB defines financial well-being as a state: being able to meet obligations, feeling secure about the future, and having the freedom to make choices that let you enjoy life. Research with the scale shows people at the same income score very differently. A high earner one missed paycheck from panic can score lower than a modest earner with slack in the system.
What does my 0-100 score mean?
It places you on the same ruler the CFPB used to measure the U.S. adult population in 2016: the national average is 54, half of U.S. adults score between 46 and 63, and scores below 37 or above 72 mark roughly the outer tenths of the distribution. There is no official pass/fail line — the Bureau deliberately publishes no cutoffs — so your report describes where you sit on that distribution, not a diagnosis.
The benchmark is American. Does my score still mean something elsewhere?
The score itself does: the ten items ask about experiences — handling a surprise expense, money left at month's end — that are not specific to any country. The comparison point, however, is explicitly the U.S. adult population, and we label it that way throughout your report. A Brazilian validation study found the scale kept its structure and reliability in another economy, which supports the construct traveling; the benchmark numbers stay American.
Who sees my answers? This is my financial life.
This test is flagged as sensitive in NOESIS precisely because finances are personal. Your results belong to you. If you ever take it in a corporate program, sensitive-test results are never shown individually to your employer without your explicit per-test consent, which defaults to off — that is a platform rule, not a promise.
Can my score change, and how would I know it did?
It is designed to move — it measures a state, not a trait. The CFPB built the scale so that programs, habits, and life events could be evaluated by re-measurement. A practical rhythm: take it now, act on whatever the low items point at (a buffer for surprises, one automated saving), and take it again in six months. Because the scoring is anchored by IRT, a change of a few points is signal, not noise.
