Your Inner Moon Phase

~7 min · 24 問 · 無料の簡易レポート

The moon has eight phases and any piece of work has roughly the same eight stages: the private beginning, the fragile push, the moment of commitment, the last hard stretch, the day it goes out, the making sense of it, the letting go, and the empty time before the next one. Almost nobody is equally good at all eight. Most people have one or two stages where they are genuinely alive and several they endure in order to get back there. The stage you live in explains a lot about which projects you finish, which colleagues find you easy, and which part of every year you dread. No birth date and no lunar calendar. Every question makes you choose one of four stages, so the result is a ranking of where your energy actually goes. The free result names your phase. The full report covers what your phase looks like from the outside, the stage you avoid and what avoiding it costs, and who complements you, which is usually somebody whose phase is opposite yours rather than similar.

Eight phases of the moon used as eight stages of doing anything, ranked by where your energy actually goes. No birth date, no lunar calendar.

このテストで測定されるもの

The New Moon

You start in the dark and keep it there. Intentions form long before you tell anybody, and telling too early would kill them.

The Waxing Crescent

The fragile push. You are at your best protecting something small that is not yet strong enough to survive an opinion.

The First Quarter

The decision point. You are the one who says out loud that this either gets committed to now or gets dropped.

The Waxing Gibbous

The last stretch before it is seen. You do the refining nobody watches, on the version that is almost ready.

The Full Moon

Visibility. You are at your most alive when the thing is finished and out, being looked at.

The Waning Gibbous

Making sense of it afterwards. You are the one who works out what happened and tells everybody else.

The Last Quarter

Letting go. You end what is not working, which is the least popular job and the one that keeps everything else alive.

The Waning Crescent

Empty on purpose. You know how to be fallow, and you defend the gap that everybody else fills.

レポートが答える質問。

  • Why do you not talk about ideas early?

Because an unformed idea cannot defend itself, and the first opinion it meets tends to decide whether it survives. Keeping it dark is protective and it is also how ideas quietly expire, since nothing that stays private ever gets the one piece of help it needed.

  • Why is this the least visible of the eight?

Because you are protecting things that do not exist yet, and nobody can see what did not get crushed. Several things around you are alive because of this and none of them will be attributed to you.

  • What does forcing the decision actually cost?

Occasionally the week the question needed. The people who make groups decide are right much more often than they are wrong, and the times they are wrong are the ones everybody remembers, which is why this phase is thanked less than it deserves.

  • When does refining become hiding?

When the improvements stop being visible to anybody except you. The last ten percent decides quality right up to the point where it becomes a way of not letting the thing go out.

  • Is enjoying the visible part a problem?

Only if it starts choosing the work. Wanting the thing to be seen is what gets things finished; the version to watch for is picking projects by how visible they will be rather than by whether they are worth doing.

  • Why is looking back so easy to skip?

Because it has no deadline. The review is the only stage with nothing forcing it, which is why teams that intend to learn mostly do not, and why one person who insists on it changes the whole group's error rate.

  • Why does nobody thank you for ending things?

Because the cost you prevented is invisible and the thing you ended was somebody's idea. This is the least popular of the eight and the one whose absence is most expensive, and knowing that is most of what makes it bearable.

  • Why does resting look like absence?

Because from outside there is nothing to see. The fallow stretch is where the next beginning comes from, and the people who do not have this phase genuinely cannot tell the difference between it and stopping.

最も効果的な方。

Somebody who starts more than they finish

Usually a strong New Moon or Waxing Crescent with a weak Waxing Gibbous. The report is about what to hand over rather than about trying harder at the part you dislike.

A team that never learns from anything

Nobody in a Waning Gibbous phase. The reviews get scheduled and cancelled, and the same mistake arrives twice a year.

Somebody exhausted by a project that should have ended

A quiet Last Quarter, often in a group where nobody has one. Ending things is a distinct capability and its absence is expensive.

Somebody who feels guilty resting

A strong Waning Crescent in a culture that treats fallow time as absence. The report is fairly direct about that being a misunderstanding rather than a fault.

よくある質問

よくある質問

Do I need to know the moon phase I was born under?

No. Nothing here is calculated from a date and the platform has no birth date field. The eight phases are borrowed as names for eight stages of work, which is the whole of the astrology in it.

Is astrology real?

Not as a science, and this does not claim otherwise. What is being used is the eight-part structure, which happens to map neatly onto how any piece of work actually goes.

Why eight phases but only four options per question?

Because ranking eight things at once is miserable to answer and produces worse data. Each question offers four, and across the quiz every phase is offered exactly the same number of times, so none can win by being asked about more often.

What if I come out flat, with no clear phase?

That is a real result and it means you move between stages rather than living in one. It tends to go with generalist roles, and with finding every stage tolerable and none of them thrilling.

Can a team take this together?

It works well for that. A team where four people are all Full Moon and nobody is Last Quarter has a predictable problem, and it is usually one everybody has already noticed without having words for it.

Is one phase better than another?

No, and the report gives every phase a version that other people find difficult. The Last Quarter ends things too readily, the Waxing Gibbous polishes past the point of use, the Full Moon can prefer the visible part to the work.
