Psychology Myths: What Is Actually True?
~10 min · 15 問 · 無料の簡易レポート
Most of what circulates about the mind arrived through a magazine article, a training day, or a relative who was very sure. Some of it holds up. A surprising amount of it started as a small finding, got simplified into a slogan, and kept travelling long after the original claim stopped being defensible. Each round gives you four statements on one theme. Your job is to mark the ones that do not hold up, and leave the ones that do. Marking everything does not work here: a statement that is fine costs you a point, so the test rewards knowing the difference rather than suspecting everything. The free result tells you how many you caught. The full report goes through every round, says which claim came from where, and separates three different kinds of wrong: the claim that was never supported, the claim that was true in a narrow setting and got stretched, and the claim that is roughly right but gets stated far more strongly than it deserves.
Fifteen rounds of popular claims about the mind. Mark the ones that do not hold up, leave the ones that do, and find out how much of what you believe arrived unchecked.
- Separate the popular version of a claim from the careful one
- Notice which beliefs about the mind you were carrying without checking
- See how a narrow finding turns into a slogan on the way to the public
- Get a plain explanation for each round, including the ones you got right

ターゲット
Anyone who has repeated a fact about the brain and later wondered where it came from
レポートが答える質問。
Which beliefs about the mind did you pick up without ever checking?
The claims that survive longest are the ones that explain a person in one sentence. That is what makes them travel, and it is also why they tend to fall apart the moment someone tries to check them on a large group.
最も効果的な方。
The confident repeater
You have said at least three of these out loud, with conviction, in the last year. Nothing here is embarrassing: the claims spread because they are useful, memorable and told by people who believed them.
The professional sceptic
You expect most popular claims to be wrong, which is why the penalty exists. Blanket suspicion scores about the same as blanket credulity, and the rounds are built so that telling them apart is the only way through.
The trainer
You have run a workshop, taught a class, or built a slide deck that included at least one of these. The full report is written with you in mind: knowing where a claim came from is more useful than knowing it is wrong.
よくある質問
Does a low score mean I know nothing about psychology?
No. It means you recognised fewer of these fifteen claims, and most of them are popular precisely because they are repeated by people who are otherwise well informed. Several of them were taught in schools and in corporate training for decades.
Why does marking a sound statement cost me a point?
Because otherwise the winning move would be to tick every box in every round, and the score would say nothing. The penalty means the ceiling belongs to someone who can tell a shaky claim from a solid one, rather than to someone who distrusts all four.
Is this test itself supported by anything?
It is a quiz with an answer key, not a measure of you. The key reflects what specialists in each area generally no longer defend. Where a claim is genuinely contested, we left it out rather than counting it as a myth.
Some of these appear in tests I have taken. Which ones?
Round fifteen is about personality questionnaires in general, and it applies to instruments people know by name, including the MBTI and the Big Five. The point is not that those are worthless, but that sorting people into fixed boxes and feeling recognised by a description are two different things from measuring a trait.
What is in the full report that the free result does not show?
Every round, with the origin of each claim and where it stopped holding, plus the distinction between three kinds of wrong: never supported, true in a narrow setting and then stretched, and roughly right but stated far too strongly.
Can I use this to argue with someone?
You can, and it will go badly. Beliefs about the mind tend to be attached to a person who told you, and the explanations here are written to be interesting rather than to win an argument at a family lunch.
